Help shape the future of Oxfordshire

About the team

Our Place Shaping service plays a key role in helping Oxfordshire respond to growth, climate challenges and the changing needs of our communities. Working across planning, transport, infrastructure, regeneration and place-based delivery, we help create liveable, healthy neighbourhoods and support sustainable growth across the county

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service working on some of Oxfordshire's most significant opportunities and challenges. From shaping long-term planning policy and infrastructure investment to supporting major development, community engagement and place-based partnerships, our work helps influence the future of places across the county.

We are looking for talented and motivated people who enjoy working collaboratively, building strong relationships and finding practical solutions to complex issues. In return, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work, work alongside experienced and supportive colleagues, and help deliver positive outcomes for residents, businesses and communities across Oxfordshire.

About the role

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in shaping and delivering ambitious regeneration activity across Oxfordshire. As Technical Lead Regeneration, you will provide strategic leadership and expert management of complex projects and programmes that support sustainable economic growth, community revitalisation and high-quality place-based transformation. You will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of high-profile regeneration initiatives, working closely with internal teams, elected members, external partners, funders and local communities.

The role will involve identifying and developing new project opportunities, preparing business cases and funding applications, managing delivery and risk, and ensuring projects are aligned to council priorities, statutory requirements and best practice in placemaking and sustainable development. You will act as the principal point of contact for regeneration matters, providing expert advice, supporting policy development, and representing the council at meetings, boards, public events and in communications with partners. This is a varied and influential role for someone who can balance strategic vision with practical delivery, bringing people together to create long-term value for residents, businesses and communities.

About you

We are looking for an experienced regeneration professional who can lead complex programmes, build strong partnerships and provide confident technical advice in a political and community-focused environment. You will bring a strong understanding of regeneration, urban renewal, placemaking and sustainable development, alongside experience of managing projects, budgets, risks and stakeholder relationships.

You will be comfortable working across organisational boundaries, engaging with local communities and partners, and translating strategic priorities into deliverable projects. You will be inclusive, collaborative and solutions-focused, with the ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including senior leaders and elected members. If you are motivated by the opportunity to shape places, secure investment and deliver meaningful change for communities, we would welcome your application.
