The Place Shaping service is at the forefront of place-based planning and supporting communities in leading the changes in their local areas. Working closely with partners, the service facilitates change through engagement, joint working and creative thinking on how to improve the lives of those living, working and visiting Oxfordshire. This is a new approach for the County Council and we need enthusiastic fresh thinking individuals that understand how to make places and people thrive.
 

About the Role

The Senior Transport Planner role is key in bringing plans for places alive. The role will oversee the development of a variety of transport and place-based projects within the Central Oxfordshire Place Planning team.  Projects the team are working on cover sustainable transport (bus and active travel), transport demand management, micromobility and public realm. The role will model how the organisation’s values and behaviours which are at the heart of everything we do. The Senior Transport Planner is key to building strong relationships with partners and key stakeholders to facilitate quality conversations about place and will understand the local area they are working with to identify and develop proposals that can be delivered on the ground.

This is a fixed term role until November 2027.  

 

About you

You will be an experienced professional with a passion for sustainable transport and place making with a focus on fostering strong partnerships. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, have project management experience, be highly organised and have a proactive approach to your work and the ability to manage multiple tasks, working to demanding deadlines.

Making quality places takes creativity, empathy and drive. As we move away from traditional transport schemes towards the creation of better functional spaces, we need a range of skills to change the thinking and practice.
