About the Role

As a member of our Health Education and Social Care (HESC) commissioning team, this role will be supporting the SEND brokerage team as a Brokerage Support Officer who will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing of our Children and Young People.

Working with operational services providers and service users, you will support the SEND brokerage service. This role sits within our Start Well Brokerage Team, and you will be working alongside the SEND Senior Brokerage Officer and SEND Brokerage Officer as well as colleagues in the other Start Well brokerage areas.

The SEND Brokerage Support Officer will support the Senior Brokerage Officer and SEND Brokerage Officer with the day-to-day activities within the SEND brokerage Service.

 Part of this role will see you assisting the Senior Brokerage Officer and Brokerage Officer in compiling and providing accurate and accessible information and advice. Collecting, maintaining and analysing data on placement usage, availability, costs and market capacity to support the brokerage function.  You may also be required to help support the service in sourcing Independent Non-Maintained Special School (INMSS) Placements and Alternate Education Placements (AEP).

 

About you

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at a grade C or above or relevant experience. It would be beneficial but not essential if you understood the purpose, activities and approaches to brokerage and sourcing care and support packages for adults or children.

You should be able to gather and analyse data and have a good knowledge of using Microsoft office and system applications.

Ideally, we are looking for candidates that have experience of working in an education environment and understand SEND placements or the school’s admissions process but this is not essential. 

You’ll also understand the legislative frameworks for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children and have a keen interest in the SEND area.
