About the Role
The post of Technical Lead is a key role at Oxfordshire County Council where you will be a key point of contact, using your technical expertise to provide guidance and advice, and contribute to the management of the Transport Development Management Team (North). Your primary focus will be leading on the assessment of transport, travel and highway implications of complex, large-scale and strategic development proposals. You will seek to ensure that developments across the north of the county and Oxford city not only meet national and local policy requirements in transport infrastructure terms, but also actively contribute to the Council's overarching priorities. You will support the Team Leader in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with crucial stakeholders, including district councils, developers, and members, fostering a shared understanding of county-wide needs and aspirations through regular collaboration. You will use your mentoring skills to provide advice and support for other team members, and be responsible for day-to-day supervision of up to four more junior colleagues.
About you
You will have substantial experience in assessing the transport impacts of strategic and large-scale, complex development proposals, and of negotiating planning agreements for the provision of transport services and infrastructure. You will also have excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare and give evidence at planning hearings and public inquiries.
