Job Introduction
About Us
The Deaf and Hearing Support (DHS) Team is part of the wider Special Educational Needs Support Services (SENSS) in Oxfordshire. You will join a well-established team that is highly regarded by educational settings and other services and organisations.
Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People work across Oxfordshire and with children and young people from 0 to 25, their families, schools, and settings. ToDs in Oxfordshire work both in peripatetic and resource base roles; some teachers working a combination of the two.
About the Role
Exact details of the caseload for this role will be dependent on the service delivery needs and will take into consideration the knowledge, skills, interests, and strengths of the successful candidate.
The role starts 01 January 2026 (or earlier if possible), and is permanent and part-time (0.5FTE).
Everyday you’ll be challenged in a new way, supported by your team, in an organisation that is free thinking, flexible, and helps people achieve their ambitions. We’re not afraid to do things differently and our dynamic culture means this is a place where new ideas are embraced, and innovation thrives.
We believe that together, our differences make us stronger, and that diversity is the foundation for innovation. Here, you can create a unique career for yourself – while raising the bar for the future of Education. Are you in?
About you
You will be an outstanding teacher with a sound knowledge of how children and young people learn and how learning can be facilitated in the classroom. You will have a broad and experience-based knowledge of special educational needs and disability.
Ideally you will be a Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People holding the mandatory qualification or be training towards this. This role would also suit an exceptional teaching practitioner interested in working in this specialist field and willing to undertake mandatory training.
A clear commitment to inclusive education, high aspirations for pupil outcomes, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team is essential.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be creative, resilient, reflective, adaptable and solution focussed.
Rewards and benefits
Oxfordshire is a great place to live and work. The SEN Support Services is able to operate School Teachers' Pay and Conditions subject to local agreement, with salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
