Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People – maternity cover

Job Introduction

Do you have the skills and passion to make a difference to the learning experience of children and young people with special educational needs?

We would love you to join us!

About Us

The Deaf and Hearing Support (DHS) Team is part of the wider Special Educational Needs Support Services (SENSS) in Oxfordshire. You will join a well-established team that is highly regarded by educational settings and other services and organisations.

Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People work across Oxfordshire and with children and young people from 0 to 25, their families, schools, and settings. ToDs in Oxfordshire work both in peripatetic and resource base roles; some teachers working a combination of the two.

About the Role

Exact details of the caseload for this role will be dependent on the service delivery needs and will take into consideration the knowledge, skills, interests, and strengths of the successful candidate.

This maternity cover role starts Tues 22 April, and is temporary and part time (0.6FTE). The salary is pro rata with actual salary for 0.6:  £21,404 to £29,450 + (£2,207 / £3,171 SEN allowance).

About you

You will be an outstanding teacher with a sound knowledge of how children and young people learn and how learning can be facilitated in the classroom.  You will have a broad and experience-based knowledge of special educational needs and disability.

Ideally you will be a Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People holding the mandatory qualification or be training towards this. This role would also suit an exceptional teaching practitioner interested in working in this specialist field.

A clear commitment to inclusive education, high aspirations for pupil outcomes, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team is essential.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be creative, resilient, reflective, adaptable and solution focussed.
