The IT Solutions Delivery Team is responsible for developing streamlined solutions to allow easy access to information and services for residents, drive business efficiencies and help the organisation leverage technology.

 

About the role:

As a software developer, you will be part of the development team managing the digital platform for the authority, including forms, workflows, case management, and systems integrations.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with the business to support and develop new digital processes
  • Ensuring seamless integration with in-house and third-party systems
  • Maintaining existing features, providing updates and support

 

You will collaborate closely with other developers in the team, UX and UI designers, test engineers, content team, and dev ops to deliver an effective user experience for the residents of Oxfordshire.

 

Most of the development will be done on the GOSS platform, which primarily involves using their online visual tools to create forms and workflows.

Custom extensions are also developed in GOSS, which are implemented in Javascript, using SQL for database access.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Developing and maintaining products and features within the digital platform
  • Standardising the approach to development
  • Collaborating with UX and UI designers, developers, business analysts, and test engineers to provide seamless end-to-end processes for customers
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues and bugs
  • Ensuring developments are secure and robust
  • Participating in code reviews and contributing to the development of best practices
  • Staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies

 

About you:

  • You should be a skilled developer with experience in Javascript, Python, PHP, and SQL.
  • Experience in developing within the GOSS platform is preferred but not essential.
  • Innovation and problem-solving abilities are valued, allowing you to address complex challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of the platforms. This collaborative and supportive environment encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Essential:
  • Proven experience using Javascript, Python, PHP, and SQL
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML and CSS) is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to work in sprints as part of a team engaging in planning, refinement, and associated processes

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with the GOSS digital platform
