Job Introduction
About Us
The Oxfordshire Registration Service is the fifth largest in the southeast. We register births, deaths, still-births, marriages, and civil partnerships that take place in Oxfordshire. We carry out thousands of wedding, citizenship, and celebratory ceremonies every year. We deliver services with kindness and professionalism at the most emotive times in people’s lives.
About the Role
Join our team as a Registration Officer!
Are you looking for a fast-paced, varied role where you can make a real difference to people's lives?
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic person to join our team as a Registration Officer. You will spend most of your time in face-to-face customer appointments, registering births, deaths, and still-births, and taking notices of marriage and civil partnership. You will work in a fast-paced environment, with back-to-back appointments every 30-45 minutes.
This is a busy and varied role in which you will meet people who may display a range of different emotions. Providing exceptional customer experience, you will ensure registrations are completed within legal frameworks and timescales.
Once fully trained, you will also work in the Registration Hub, assisting with complex registration matters. At a later stage you will be trained to carry out marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.
About you
You will enjoy engaging with members of the public at pivotal times in their lives. You will apply complex legislation and explain it in a way that is clear to the general public.
You will be confident in using IT packages (training will be given in Registration software). You will use your initiative in combination with guidance from experienced colleagues, to solve problems and achieve the required outcome for customers. You will be flexible as situations and places of work may change at relatively short notice.
You will be thorough and diligent when carrying out daily checks on stock and financial records. You will embrace the challenge of managing large groups of people at ceremonies, and speaking to audiences of varying sizes.
