About Us

Oxfordshire’s Supported Transport Service manage transport for some 12,000 vulnerable people a day, using around 750 vehicles ranging from coaches, taxis and our own internal fleet of minibuses to over 100 different schools or social care establishments.

This is an exciting time to join the Service - with the council investing in a new Independent Travel Training Programme supporting children and young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to increase their independence in preparation for adulthood, being one of the first authorities to have real time information for school transport contracts and embracing active travel across the whole service. There’s lots of opportunity to be part of shaping a modern and progressive service supported by passionate and enthusiastic councillors making a positive impact on residents and users of Oxfordshire’s network.

 

About the Role

This role is primarily focused on allocating children and vulnerable adults to contracted coaches, minibuses, and taxis, and procuring these forms of transport where they don't exist or if contracts have ended. The team also offer direct travel payments to parents or season tickets on the public bus service. There is a strong customer focus to the role, dealing with contractors, schools, social care establishment and most importantly the passengers and families involved , many of whom are vulnerable.

This role will be agile, but with a main base in County Hall, Oxford. 

 

About you

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, strong organisational, interpersonal and customer service skills, and importantly a desire to make a difference to the lives of our vulnerable people.
