About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available within our Finance Business Partnering Team, within Corporate Finance at Oxfordshire County Council.

The role provides the opportunity to support and challenge senior managers within the Environment & Highways and Economy & Place service areas to provide value for money quality services for the residents of Oxfordshire. The team play a major part every day in enabling services to deliver on our corporate objectives.

The successful candidate will provide on-going support, advice and challenge, of the agreed high-risk budget areas to the cost centre, project and service managers, identifying any weaknesses in financial management, while supporting directorates to innovate and continuously improve performance.

At times the post will also require this individual to deputise for the Assistant Finance Business Partner as appropriate, and to assist in providing support for major projects and contracts, through the creation and challenge of financial plans and business cases.

 

About you

We are looking for a qualified and experienced management accountant who has strong technical and personal skills, who can challenge and support senior managers to improve financial management and support decision making. Experience of working in a Local Authority or a similar large organisation would be beneficial. 

You would be joining an established team, and we are looking for someone who strives to be always learning and takes responsibility for the outcomes of their work.

A key competency of this post is to provide strategic financial insight, analysis and commercial thinking to the nominated Directorate. This includes the validation of the budget & business planning, financial monitoring and final accounts processes.
