HR Specialist - Pay and Reward (FTC)

Job Introduction

Together, we’re delivering the future together and becoming an employer, partner, and place shaper of choice. To achieve our goals, we need to transform how we work by redesigning our organisational structure, so we’re set up for success and sustainability in the future.
Our HR & Cultural Change service is at the start of its journey, to fundamentally change how it works to deliver the Our People and Culture Strategy, helping to make sure the organisation is well-equipped to respond to opportunities and challenges, now and in the future.

About Us
We’re the kind of workplace that’s all about creating an environment where people feel connected, are empowered, and are supported to bring their whole selves to work. Our HR & Cultural Change team are the behind-the-scenes crew making sure our people feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

About the Role
We’re looking for an HR Specialist to join our Reward team—someone who’s passionate about fairness, transparency, and making sure our people are getting the recognition they deserve. In this role, you’ll be part of a team of go-to experts on all things reward. You’ll help shape how we attract and retain talent by ensuring our total reward package is competitive, equitable, and aligned with our values.
You’ll manage your own day-to-day, contribute to and lead on projects, and work closely with colleagues, at all levels across the organisation, to keep things running smoothly and fairly.
This is a great opportunity to bring your ideas to the table, work on meaningful projects and use your creativity as part of a small team making a big impact.

About You
You’ve considered becoming CIPD Level 5 qualified (or already have it), and you’ve got solid experience in HR. You might have previous experience when it comes to pay, reward, and job evaluation, or you’re keen to dive in and learn something new.
You’re confident working with data, spotting trends, and using insights to drive better decisions. You’re happy to speak up and challenge the status-quo to drive the organisation and team to do things differently.
You’re also a great communicator who knows how to build trust and influence people at all levels. You have integrity, care about doing things the right way, and promote equality and fairness in all that you do.
We encourage you to apply, even if you aren’t sure that you meet all the criteria on the JD – if you’d like to discuss further or still aren’t sure then contact ellie.harriss@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
Following our service redesign, the new HR & Cultural Change operating model ensures everyone has clarity on their role and remit, while reinforcing a ‘one team’ ethos. This is an exciting time to join us, as we take the next steps in our service together.

As part of our team, you’ll benefit from

  • Electric vehicle lease scheme
  • Discounts at local retailers
