About the Role 

As a Business Support Officer, you will deliver a high quality and comprehensive practice management support service to Legal Services. This is a varied administrative role requiring excellent organisational skills, accuracy and the ability to manage multiple demands calmly and professionally. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing planned and reactive administrative support across Legal Services to maintain smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Liaising proactively with lawyers, colleagues and managers to ensure a consistent and reliable support service. 
  • Offering cross service cover to help prevent service pressures and maintain resilience during peaks in workload.
  • Supporting the Practice Management team with document management, formatting, meeting support, inbox management, financial tasks (as required), and general administrative duties.
  • Ensuring that all work is delivered to a professional standard, aligned with council processes and expectations.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and helping to embed efficient working practices throughout the service.

This is a Grade 7 role, working 25 hours per week, with flexible working options available depending on service needs. Based at County Hall, Oxford (OX1 1ND), you will be required to attend the office two to three times a week.

You will be a proactive, reliable and highly organised administrator who enjoys supporting others and keeping operations running smoothly. You will bring: 

  • Strong administrative experience, ideally in a professional, legal, or similarly structured environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with colleagues at all levels.
  • A detail focused approach, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
  • The ability to prioritise, plan and adapt quickly to changing service demands.
  • A collaborative mindset, willing to provide cross team support whenever needed.
  • A positive, flexible attitude and a commitment to delivering a consistently high quality support service.
