About Us

An exciting opportunity to work as an Assistant Clinical Psychologist within the ATTACH team, a multidisciplinary therapeutic team, offering assessment and intervention to children we care for, adoptive and special guardianship families. The team is located within children’s social care, and is committed to providing high quality specialist services to support this population. 

 

The ATTACH team comprises Clinical Psychologists, Senior Practitioners and an Educational Psychologist, working with children and young people who are no longer living with their birth parents. Underpinned by an understanding of the importance of early attachment relationships and developmental trauma on all aspects of a young person’s development, ATTACH works with foster carers, SGO carers and adoptive parents to promote attachment security and positive emotional and psychological functioning. Alongside this the team plays a core role in offering psychologically informed consultation and training to colleagues in social care supporting the dissemination of knowledge and skills throughout the department.

 

About the Role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join our team and play a role in supporting the development and implementation of services to those we work with. The post is situated within the Children, Young People and Families directorate and would best suit an individual who has experience of working within child and adolescent mental health or social care.

 About you

The role is suited to an individual who can contribute within a team setting, is able to engage and work alongside vulnerable families and young people and can work creatively and independently. The role requires an individual who is able to draw on their psychological knowledge to develop their therapeutic skills within this environment. They will be skilled at communicating with both service users and professionals within and outside of the organisation. We are looking for an individual who is competent in the management of data, can take responsibility for the Adoption Support Fund application process and can support audit.
